Description
BlinkenNums consists of a matrix of 4x4 seven segment LED displays, each capable of displaying numbers from -19 to 19.
Circuitry
The circuity is basically made of 74HC164 shift registers and resistors. As each display has 10 segments (the minus, two for the left number and the usual seven for the second number), each line needs 5 shift-registers making a total of 20 ICs for the sixteen LED displays. Each line has it's own data connection to the parallel port, but all the clocks are connected together.
Up to two BlinkenNums are interfaced through the parallel port of a PC or can be connected to a microcontroller.
