LittleLights is modelled on the Berlin building „Haus des Lehrers“ at a scale of 1:42 and has the same functions as the Blinkenlights-installation at Berlin’s Alexanderplatz in 2001. The house is connected to ISDN line so one can play Pong by calling a certain phone number against the computer or another caller. In addition, one can send in films which can be started by phone.
The house was developed and built from October to December 2002, but most features were added later. In addition to the functions of Blinkenlights LittleLights is also useably as as a light organ and a status display, showing news, weather data or similar information. In 2002, LittleLights had its first run at the Chaos Communication Congress and one year later, it did not only blink at the Chaos Communication Camp, but it was also further developed. In addition in 2003, it was also presented at the Open Day and the Girl’s Day of the „Naturwissenschaftlich-Technische Akademie Isny“.
Today, LittleLights is part of pong.mythos exhibition, which deals with the 1970s Atari cult computer game. The exhibition had stops at the Games Convention in Leipzig, at the Museum of Communication in Frankfurt/Main and at the Kornhausforum in Berne.
